Dusan Simic

Dusan Simic, B.Sc., FGG (1989), SGC (2004) is a research gemologist with more than 25 years of experience in gemology and jewelry production. In the early 1990s, as a field gemologist and a trader, he has traveled from Thai mines in Bo Rai, through Ceylon (Sri Lanka), and the Indian trade and production centers in Mumbai, Surat and Jaypur, as well as the South African diamond mines, and the cutting centers in Idar-Oberstein and Antwerp, as well as New York City and Tucson.

After his move to the States, Dusan used to work as a diamond-setter for Jose Hess. In 2002, he joined EGL USA NYC as a research gemologist, responsible for diamond identification. In 2006 he opened the EGL USA lab in Mumbai, which he ran until 2008.

In 2009, Dusan founded a new laboratory—Analytical Gemology and Jewelry (AG&J)—in New York City to focus on research and development. His high specialization is in diamond identification with deep understanding of all treatments and their combinations, and diamond synthetics. AG&J is also known as developer/provider of HPHT and APHT facilities and technology.
