Gina Latendresse

Gina Latendresse literally grew up in the American freshwater pearl business. Beginning at the of eight, her duties included grading pearls according to size, shape and color and traveling with her parents to trade shows. The extensive travel and exposure to pearls over the last forty-two years gave her the background and inspiration to join her family in the world of pearls.

Gina graduated from Rhodes College with a BA in Industrial Psychology and continued her education with a graduate Gemologist diploma from GIA as well as in the GIA Pearls, Design and Jewelry Manufacturing programs.

In 1991, she was appointed President of American Pearl Company. Gina's father, the late John R. Latendresse, is widely recognized as one of the world's foremost authorities on pearls, natural and cultured. The history of cultured pearls was forever changed when his pearl farming experimentation matured into a successful business. Latendresse is known in the industry as a pearl designer - the "Pearl Picasso", because of the uniquely shaped cultured pearls his Tennessee farming operations produce. He is also known worldwide as the "Father of the American Cultured Pearl."

Gina has extended her business into exotic natural pearls and become one of the industry's respected authorities in the field.
