AGA Membership Application Process
Complete & Submit Application
Select the membership level that best fits your gemology. Complete the application form, including contact information for professional references if required. Submit your application.
Receive Notification
Your application and your professional references will be reviewed by the AGA Membership Committee. You will receive a notification from AGA regarding your approval or the need for additional documentation.
Set Up Your Member Profile
Once approved, you will receive an email with an invoice for your annual dues. Upon receipt of payment, AGA will issue a Certificate of Membership and a letter of congratulations with instructions to set up your member profile so you can begin enjoying the benefits of AGA Membership.

AGA was established in 1974 and incorporated as a 501(C)3 charitable organization in 2014.
No, AGA does not sell, rent, or share member information.
AGA Student Members and AGA Associate Members are not required to hold a gemological credential. AGA Voting Membership requires a gemological credential from an approved gemological education provider.
A list of approved providers is included on the membership application form. If the program you are enrolled in is not included on the list, please encourage your education provider to contact us regarding steps for review and approval.

AGA Student membership is free and limited to 1 year. If you have not completed your gemological studies by the end of 1 year, you may apply for AGA Associate membership.
AGA Student Members and AGA Associate Members are not required to hold a gemological credential. AGA Voting Membership requires a gemological credential from an approved gemological education provider.
Once you have submitted your application and we have received responses from your references, the AGA Membership committee will review and vet your application. You will be contacted by email if there are any questions or further information is required. The process usually takes about 30 days.
Professional references for AGA can be from people you work with, instructors, or friends and colleagues who know you well and can speak to your character and work ethic.
AGA does not charge an application or membership fee to join. Once your application is approved, you will be invoiced for your 1st year’s membership dues. You will be invoiced each year for annual dues for your respective membership level.
